ACT & SAT Essay Preparation

Both the ACT and SAT tests have recently undergone a complete revamping, which means that the essay requirements have also changed. These preparatory essay seminars reflect the new content for both the ACT and SAT essay tests. 

ACT Essay Preparation - Thursday, April 7 from 11:30 AM – 12:50 PM - $15

SAT Essay Preparation - Thursday April 28 from 11:30 AM – 12:50 PM - $15

If you attend both, the cost will be $25.

Seminars will be held at Lapeer Free Methodist Church, 1621 N. Saginaw St., Lapeer MI.

Writing A Top-Scoring Essay – Lisa Wagner 
These practical 80 minute sessions for high school students (and/or their parents) will cover the basics of writing the essay for the timed ACT and SAT tests. Topics will include an overview of the basic essay format and how to enhance the fundamental structure with advanced techniques to increase test scores. Specific information will be included regarding how these essay tests are scored. The student will be equipped with the tools necessary to write a high-scoring essay. A practice test will be given in class and evaluation of the in-class essay is included. 


Class fees are NON-refundable even if you drop the class. I do not offer refunds under any circumstances.

Lisa Wagner 

Lisa Wagner is a certified teacher with a Bachelor's degree in English and graduate work in Reading and Language Arts. Her teaching experience includes high school and GED Language Arts, as well as years of elementary classroom experience and she is currently employed as a Mentor Teacher at the Lapeer Homeschool Partnership. She teaches literature, composition, and creative writing to homeschooled students ages 10-18. She has also been trained as an essay test scorer for a national test scoring company. Lisa has written several unpublished (so far!) novels and is looking for a publisher. Her current work-in-progress is a rollicking guide to the works of Jane Austen.
